We plan to take advantage of this magnification in our human-powered submarine propulsion system. Our foot pedal will be located where the sewing machine bobbin is located. Using this set up, if the foot pedal is driven 8", the shaft will move about 16". We can enhance the system with more pulleys so that an 8" foot pedal depression results in 32" shaft translation.
